And m order thereunto, The Kings Majefty, with advice and conient of His Eftates of Par- liament, Doth hereby Statute and Ordain, the faid fum of twelve thoufand pounds Sterling, to b6 paid by the Shires and Burghs of the Kingdom, in manner for the ufe aforefaid, the one halt thereof in the moneth ot November, and the other half in the moneth of May next to come; and that the lame be brought, in and delivered to any, whom the Senators of die Coiled ge of Juftice mall appoint to receive the fame; and whofe difcharge upon the receipt thereof; in whole or -in part; ihaii accordingly be a fufficient exoneration to the Shires and Burghs, and all others whom it effeirs. And the laids.moneths oi November and May respective, being pait, Ordains Letters of Horning and Poynding, and all other Execution neceffar to be directed at his or their inftances, againft the Shires or Burghs of the Kingdom and their Collectors : And twenty dayes being expired, after either of the faids moncths refpecJive, Ordains Quartering to be upon deficient Shires, and Burghs ; and that aii who command the Forces within the Kingdom, gives orders, and be affifting hereunto according- l y- i LI. ' Aft concerning Arreffments; OUr Soveraign Lord, confidering the great charges that Creditors are put to, by Comprifing of fume owing to their Debitors, by vertue of Heritable Bonds, Contracts and other Writs bearing pai- Spent of Annuairents : which in refpectof the Oblicgmcnt for Annualrents, were not in former times Ariel table. Therefore the Kings Majefty-, with advice and confent of His Eftates of Parliament:, Findes and Declares, , that all fums of money which arc addebted by Bonds* Contracts and other peribnal Obliegments.,. whereupon no Infeftmcnts have followed, are, and Ihall be Arreftable at the inftance of any.Creditcr> .-hotwithitanding that the Bonds, Contracts and other Oblicgments beat paiment of Annualrents. And the Kings Majefty, with advice and conient torefaid, Declares that this fhail no wayes change the nature ot the faids Sums, nor prejudge the Heir nor any other perion their rights to the fam; as being Heritable, which are hereby Declared to remain in their own na- ture unchanged by this h ft pro tit de jure, except that only the fame are Ariefiabie. LTI- Aft concerning the difpofal ofVacand Stipends. FOrafmuch as by divers Atts, it is found that Stipends and Benefices of Vacand Kirks, or which there- alter Ihould vaik by Deceafe, Depofition, Sulpenhon, Tranfportation of Minifters, Dif-union of Kirks, or any other way, mould, during the Vacancy thereof, be imployed on pious ufes; and the Kings Majefty confidering, that during thefc troubles, many Learned and Religious perfons in the Mimftry and Univerfities,.for their expreffions of duty and loyalty to His Majefty, or not concur- jngin the confuhons of the time, have -been Depofed, or Sufpcnded from their Charge aud Miniftry, and have been otherwayes put under great iufferings, and they and their Families redacted to extream mikry and want. And conceiving it to be an Aft of great Piety and Juftice, to have regard to the iufferings of thole honeft and faithfull Minifters and others, and in fome meafure to provide for them, and repair their loffes; Therefore His Majesty, with advice' of His Eftates of Parliament, Ordains ail Stipends or Benefices of Kirks that are Vacand , and ■ not already difpoled of , or which fliall vaik by Deceafe, Depofition , Sufpenfion , Tranfportation , - or any
