ticeship at sea from Whitby.—this Monument was erected by Robert Campion, Esq. of Whitby, and Lord of the Manor of Easby. The foundation stone was laid by him on the 12th of July, 1827, being the Anniversary of the day on which Capt. Cook commenced his last voyage, and also of the birth of the Founder. It was finished on the 27th of October, 1827, being Captain Cook's birth-day, and wanting only one year of a Centenary.
