This image of the Military Governor and Viceroy of Yun-kuei, who suppressed a Panthe (Chinese Muhammadan) rebellion last century, is erected in the temple of the Goddess of Mercy (see pp. 261-62) which stands a few miles south of Ta-li-fu, in the Chinese Province of Yiin-nan.
