SIR WALTER CROSBIE, of Maryborough, Queen's co. created a Baronet of Nova Scotia 1630 (not recorded in great seal register, but Lord Stirling's list has grants of land in New Brunswick, 24 April, 1630, to Sir Piers and Sir Walter; hod. 5,14 Aug. 1638 (Inq. p. m. 17 Jan. 1668), having m. Mabel, 4th dau. of Sir Nicholas Browne, Knt. of Totteridge, Herts, and of Molahiff and Rosse, co. Kerry (ancestor of Earl of Kenmare), and had with a dau. 4 sons, of whom the eldest survivor SIR JOHN, 2nd Baronet, of Ballyfin, devisee of the Abbey of Odorney, and other lands in Kerry, from Sir Patrick Cros- bie aforesaid, whose will he proved 28 Oct. 1663, but Sir John being attainted at the time of the making of the will (17 Nov. 1646), and surviving the testator, and the said attainder having never been reversed, the King became entitled to the premises by virtue of the said will and attainder. [Sir Warren Crosbie (son of Maurice, .son of Sir John) was in receipt of a pension of £200 a year from the crown in 1727, by the title of Sir Warren Crosbie, which would favour the suppo- sition that there was not an attainder in the family. The grandson of this Sir Warren was the unfortunate Sir Edward Crosbie who was executed at Carlow, 5 Jime, 1798, during the Irish rebellion, in consequence of his (alleged) criminal inter- course ^vitll the rebels ....
