Uineage. f^ EORGE DASHWOOD, alderman of London [younger VJT brother of Francis Dashwood, of London (said by Le Neve to be son of Samuel Dashwood, of Stoke (Jomar, Somer- sets.), father of Sir Francis Dashwood, created a BARONET, see next article], undertook, with other persons, to farm the whole revenue of Ireland, temp. Charles II. and a commissioner of excise and hearth tax until his death 1682; m. Margaret, dau. of William Perry, of Thorpe, Surrey. She d. 1714, having had with other issue 3 sons, (1) Sir Robert, created a Baronet 16 Sept. 1684. (2) Richard, m. Mary Garrat, of London. (3) George, lieut.-col. regt. of foot; d. at Tor bay 1706, having ui. Angelina, dau. of Sir Algernon Peyton, of Doddington, Isle of Ely. His grandson. Sir Henry, assumed the surname of Petton only, and was created a Baronet 18 Sept. 1776. (See that article.) SIR ROBERT DASHWOOD, knighted at Windsor Castle 4 June, 1682, created a Baronet 16 Sept. 1684, with remainder to the male issue of his father, who had had in his possession for some time a baronet's patent, which he did not take out; M.P. Banbury; d. July, 1734, having m. Penelope, dau. and coheir of Sir Thomas Cliamberlayne, Bart, of Wick- ham, Oxon. and with 3 daus. had 2 sons, [1] Robert, d. in Paris, Sept. or Oct. 1728, having m. Dorothea, sister and coheir of Sir Jolin Readc, of Brockett Hall, Herts, Bart, (ext.), and had a son, Sir James, who s. as 2nd Baronet.
