Of which are to be fit for keel-pieces |
A premium price is paid for timber suitable for keel-pieces; logs qualified for this purpose are not to exceed 250 feet cube.
The conditions of the contract are—
1. That all the timber shall be felled in the winter; that is, within the 1st November and the end of February.
2. The timber will not be required to be delivered of an octagonal form, but must be so hewn or squared as that at each of the measuring places no surface or square shall be less than one-fourth of the diameter of the piece where the measurement is to be taken (Fig. 2 6b); and in measuring at the yards, the contents of the butt-lengths will not be taken separately, but the lengths for measurement will be regulated by the several stops or joggles.
