LXV.

A Willing Delusion.

By shady woods, and purling streams,
I pass my life in pleasing dreams;
And would not for the world be brought
To change my false delightfull thought.
For who, alas I can happy be,
That does the truth of all things see?

Endeavour not then to persuade
That by her charmes I am betraide:
I'm not in pain if it be so,
I only beg I may not know.
For 'tis a truth to be believ'd,
That more or less we're all deceiv'd.
