CHILD POEMS.
" Oh this my king for whom I wait,
Why need he suffer so ?
Does no one know his coming state ?
His rank does no one know ?
" I tell you, all ye elements,
That he shall rule one day ;
How dare ye buffet him full sore
With your unruly play?"
Thereon the Wisdom King arose,
The lord of all the fays :
" O daughter, anger is not truth,
Nor adulation praise.
" Didst thou not scorn the fairy knights
As gossamer and vain ?
The fay who toys with human love
Must wed with human pain."
" I will not," said the fairy queen
" I hate this thing called pain."
But softly sighed the sleeping lad,
And down she knelt again.
