CHILD POEMS.
" All my dream I may not tell,
No one now may share it ;
Yet in truth it pleased me well,
Certain scars declare it."
Then I saw, how, while he smiled,
There were marks of weeping
Held their place all imbeguiled :
Nearer I came creeping.
" Tell me, Mat." " I may not tell-
There is might in duty :
Only know, one may live well
Void of joy and beauty.
" If an angel came to-night
Proffering all Heaven,
For this life, so bare of light,
Bringing lustres seven,
" I would put the gift away
With becoming meekness;
I would rather live my day —
There is strength in weakness."
