UNDER THE MULBERRY TREE.
1.
DROPPING fruit, and leaves that quiver,
Where the sunshine trembles through ;
Slumberous sighs the sleeping river,
Summer winds the flowerets woo ;
Drowsily the humming bee
Murmurs forth his melody.
Black with crimson, luscious berries
Hang our tent, like perfumed bells —
Bells to ring-in far-off fairies
From the many-coloured dells ;
Mossy root for fairy seat,
Mushroom stool for fairy feet.
