No. 3001. CONVENTION[1] BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE HUNGARIAN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC CONCERNING THE QUARANTINE OF AGRICULTURAL PLANTS AND THEIR PROTECTION FROM PESTS AND DISEASES. SIGNED AT BUDAPEST, ON 13 JULY 1950

The Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Government of the Hungarian People's Republic, recognizing the need for more effective measures to put an end to agricultural losses due to pests and diseases, thereby ensuring the maximum increase in the yield of agricultural crops, have appointed as their plenipotentiaries:

For the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Evgeny Dmitrievich Kiselev, Ambassador and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in Hungary;

For the Government of the Hungarian People's Republic, Ferenc Erdei, Minister of Agriculture;

Who, having exchanged their full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed on the following:

Article 1

Both Contracting Parties undertake to carry out systematically in their own territories, each year, measures to put an end to agricultural losses due to plant pests and diseases and to ensure the maximum increase in the yield of agricultural crops.

Article 2

The two Contracting Parties have agreed that the measures referred to in article 1 shall include:

1. The inspection of agricultural crops and unused land with a view to discovering areas infected with plant pests and diseases.
