Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United _ States of America in Congress assembled, ,Th}lt·upon the application of I¤¤¤•¤¤ ¤<>¤V}§=¢¤ the Attorney-General, the Secretary of the Interior be, and ho is hereby, Qjfg authorized and directed to transfer to the Ibsaue Asylum in the District Pm,] fo,. um 1,,,,,,,,8 of Columbia. all persons who have been or shall be convicted of any ot'- in the _Di¤triet of fense in any court of the United States, and imprisoned in any State C<>l¤¤¤l»¤· prison or penitentiary of any State or Territory, and who, during the term of their imprisonment, have or shall become and be insane. Sec. 2. That in all cases where any person convicted in sn court of the Attarnzy-General} United States shall, while imprisoned under such conviction in any State é‘:‘{t°:‘;;flfm‘;‘f¤ prison or penitentiary, become and belusane, and there shall not be curtain (,,m,_ accommodation ior such insane person at the Insane Asylum of the District of Columbia, or. if for other reasons the Attorney-General is of opinion that such insane person should be placed at a State insane asy· lum rather than at said District Asylum, then_ the Attorney-General Shall have power in his discretion to contract with any State insane or lunatic asylum, within the State in which such convict 18 imprisoned, for his care and custody while remaining so insane; and 1D all cases where such convicts shall have heretofore been, or shall hereafter transferred to a State asylum ·for insane conyiots, in accordance with the laws of such State, the Attorney-General is hereby authorized and
