such person shall be deemed and adjudged guilty of felony, and being thereof convicted, by due course of law, shall be sentenced to be imprisoned and kept to hard labour for a period not less than three years, nor more than ten years, and be fined in a sum not exceeding five thousand dollars.

Chap. XXX.—An Act to impose a duty on the importation of Iron wire.

Duties upon iron wire.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That iron wire, which, from and after the passage of this act, shall be imported into the United States and the territories thereof, shall be subject to the same duty as is paid on the importation of iron, steel, or brass locks, hinges, hoes, anvils, and vices.
Additional duty imposed on wire imported in vessels of the United States.
How collected, &c. &c.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That an addition of ten per centum shall be made on the rate of duty hereby directed to be collected on the importation of iron wire as aforesaid, in ships or vessels not of the United States.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the duty laid by this act shall be levied and collected in the same manner, and under the same regulations and allowances as to drawbacks, mode of security, and time of payment, as the duties now in force on the articles herein before enumerated.

Chap. XXXI.—An Act to raise ten additional companies of Rangers.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the United States be, and he is hereby authorized, to raise ten additional companies of rangers, on the same provisions, conditions, and restrictions as those authorized to be raised byAct of Jan. 2, 1812, ch. 11.
Act of Jan. 29, 1813, ch. 15. “An act authorizing the President of the United States to raise certain companies of rangers for the protection of the frontier of the United States,” which said companies shall be in lieu of one of the regiments authorized to be raised by the act in addition to the act, entitled “An act to raise an additional military force, and for other purposes,” passed the twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and thirteen.
