Ch. 380. 1892. 357 For continuing the researches in physical hydrography relating to CP=;r=,r, •¤v¤¤•¤¤— harbors and bars, including computations and plottings, and for con- °°t uu ‘ tinuing tidal observations on the Atlantic, Gulf, and Paciiio coasts, eleven thousand three hundred dollars; For examination into reported dangers on the Atlantic, Gulf and Pacitio coasts, and to continue the compilation of the Coast Pilot, and to make special hydrographio examinations for the same, two thousand nine hundred and fifty dollars; To continue magnetic observations, inolu— the maintenance of the Magnetic Observatory two thousand five hundred and fifty dollars; For continuing the line of exact levels westward and southward from the vicinity of Kansas City, Missouri, westward nom Old Point Comfbrt, Virginia, eastward from San Francisco, California, eastward from Vicksburg, Mississippi, between Fernandina and Cedar Keys, Florida, and from the vicinity of Chicago, Illinois, to Lake Erie, four thousand two hundred dollars; _ For furnishin g points to State surveys, to be applied as far as prac- ,,§‘§'““ "° S"”°° '“" ticable in States where points have not been furnished, and for survey- ing and distinctly designating with permanent monuments that portion of the eastern boundary of the State of California commencing at and running southeastward from the intersection of the thirty-ninth degree of northlatitude with the one hundred and twentieth degree of longitude west of Greenwich, fifteen thousand six hundred dollars; For determinations of geographical positions and to continue gravity determinations, four thousand six hundred and fifty dollars; For continuing the transcontinental geodetic work on the line between the Atlantic and Pacino oceans, including a primary base in the vicinity of Salt Lake, and the necessary check bases twelve thousand six hundred dollars; For traveling expenses of officers and men of the Navy on duty, and for any special surveys that may be required by the Light-House Board or other proper authority, and contingent expenses incident thereto, two thousand nine hundred and fifty dollars; · For objects not hereinbefore named that may be deemed urgent, including the actual necessary expenses of officers of the field force temporarily ordered to the office at Vifashington for consultation with the Superintendent, to be paid as directed by the Superintendent, in aocordance with the Treasury regulations five thousand nine hundred dollars- , For contribution to the International Geodetic Association for the d°{§'§?§§;}‘§§#,,,f}°" measurement of the Earth, five hundred and nity dollars, or so much thereof as maybe necessary, to be expended through the oflioe of the American legation at Berlin; and for expenses of the attendance of the American delegate at the general conference of said association, five hundred and fifty dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary: Provided, That such contribution and expenses of attendance shall be {,',j;{';{_;;, payable out of the item “for objects not hereinbefore named"; and ' twenty per centum of the foregoing amounts shall be available interchangeably for expenditure on the objects named; In all for party expenses, one hundred and twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars.
