STATUTE II.

Chapter I.—An Act to provide for the removal of the library of Congress to the north wing of the Capitol.
Suitable apartments to be fitted up for the library in the north wing of the capitol.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the joint library committee of Congress be, and they are hereby, authorized to cause suitable apartments, in the north wing of the Capitol, to be fitted up and furnished for the temporary reception of the library of Congress, and to cause the said library to be removed to, and place in, the same.
Accounts to be settled at the treasury.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the accounting officers of the treasury be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to settle the accounts of the expenditures which may be incurred under this act; and that the amount, so settled, be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2000 dollars further for books.Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the sum of two thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated for the further purchase of books for the said library.

Chap. II.—An Act to increase the number of clerks in the Department of War.

The Secretary of War authorized to employ additional clerks.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Department of War be, and he is hereby, authorized and empowered to employ an additional number of clerks in his department, not exceeding twelve; and that the sum of twelve thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated for their compensation; to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. This act to continue in force for one year, and no longer.
