County, Mississippi. ‘··—;j— Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of two hundred {,1. o. cnsrmuk. and twelve dollars be, and the same hereby is, appropriated, out of any ·”"‘°"°°°‘ money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated to be paid to Miss M. O. Chapman, of Paulding, in Jasper County, Mississippi, being the amount contained in a certain registered package rfiled from the mails by one Rube Burrows in a train robbery committed near the town of Bucatnnna, in Wayne County, Mississippi, on September twenty-third, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, the said registered package having been sent from Paulding by Miss Chapman, the postmistress thereat, one day later than required by the Post·0ilice regulations, and the Post-Oiiice Department having for that reason held her to the payment thereof and she having paid the same. _ Approved, June 18. 1898. · CHAP. 478.-An Act For the relief of W. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Rolllférg-Th¤m¤¤md Treasury is hereby authorized and directed to pay, out of any money p,,,.,.,,,f{'Q,_“°‘ in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred and twenty-three dollars and forty-seven cents to W. H. Barnard and Robert Thomas, for money collected irom them inadvertently by the United States marshal for the northern district of Alabama as sureties on an appearance bond of one John Reynolds, which bond was forfeited, but said forfeiture being afterwards set aside. Approved, June 20, 1898. CHAP. 479.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Lowell H. Hopkinson. , June 20.1908- Be it enacted by the Senate and Hons; of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the _°{_·°*•¤ H- H¤rk¤¤- Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the Pbunion inmate. pension roll, subiect to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Lowell H. Hopkinson, late a member of Company A, Fiftyseventh and Fifty-ninth Regiments Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of fifty dollars per month in lieu of the pension he is now receiving. Approved, June 20, 1898. CHAP. 480.-An Act Granting a pension to Clara A. Short. June 20. 1898- Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the g1nrqA.Sh¤r·r. Interior be, and is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the °'“""" pension roll the name of Clara A. Short, widow of Martin C. Short, late captain of Company I, Thirty-first Regiment llfisconsin Infantry Volunteers, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month. · Approved, June 20, 1898.
