MAINTENANCE OF VESSELS: For the maintenance of the vessels ?i¤h¤¤¤¤•¤¢‘¤ ¤f¤·¤·•- and launches, including the purchase and repair of boats, apparatus, "`"‘ machinery, and other facilities required for use with the same, and contingent expenses, thirty thousand five hundred dollars. _ INQUIRY RESPECTING FOOD-FISHES: For field and contingent ex- Inquiry r¤¤r¤<=¤¤s penses of the inquiry into the causes of the decrease of food-fishes in f"'§‘gg2::§g__ the lakes, rivers, and coast waters of the United States, and for the study of the waters of the interior in the interest of fish culture; for the investigation of the fishing-grounds of the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts, with the view of determining their food resources, in the development of the commercial fisheries, including the expenses of necessary travel and preparation of reports, ten thousand eight hundred dollars. STATISTICAL INQUIRY: For necessary traveling and contingent ex- “'=¤**¤*i°¤l*¤*¤¤*’>‘· penses in the collection and compilation of the statistics of the nsheries and the study of their methods and relations, five thousand dollars. And ten per centum of the foregoing amounts for the miscellaneous 1·¤¢¤r¤1·¤¤s¤·=¤l>l·· M- expenses of the work of the Commission shall be available interchange p°°“°“‘ ably for expenditure on the objects named, but no more than ten per centum shall be added to any one item of appropriation. _ _ FISH uATcuEEY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE: For the establishment of a H§g‘;,f_§;‘{§i "‘ N" fish-cultural station in the State of New Hampshire at some suitable point to be selected by the United States Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries, including purchase of site, construction of buildings and ponds, and its equipment, fifteen thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.
