GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL FOB. THE INSANE: For current expenses ,uB$;;°{,;{5mIj1';£,°¤Piof the Government Hospital for the Insane: For support, clothing, and ` treatment in the Government Hospital for the Insane of the insane from the Army and Navy, Marine Corps, Revenue—Cutter Service, and inmates of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, persons charged with or convicted of crimes against the United States who are insane, all persons who have become insane since their entry into the military or naval service of the United States, who have been admitted to the hospital and who are indigent, two hundred and sixty-eight thousand nine hundred and eighty-two dollars and forty cents; and not exceeding one thousand five hundred dollars of this sum may be expended in defraying the expense of the removal of patients to their friends, and not exceeding one thousand dollars may be expended in the purchase of such books, periodicals, and papers as may be required for the purposes of the hospital. The superintendent of the Government Hospital for the Insane shall 0,1}$m§QjP}};$;·;¤:5' deposit in the Treasury of the United States, in his name as agent, all ` funds now in his hands or which may hereafter be intrusted to him by or for the use of patients, which shall be kept as a separate account; —¤¤<= 02 ew and he is hereby authorized to draw therefrom on his order, from time to time, under such regulations as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, for the use of such patients, but not to exceed for any one patient the amount intrusted to the superintendent on account of such patient; and he shall give a separate bond, satisfactory to the said Secretary, for the faithinl performance of his duties in respect to these funds as herein provided.
