prise or construction, in the way of a ship canal or otherwise, known to him to be in process of completion in or about the harbor of Sabine Pass, and as to whether any plans or estimates have been submitted to and approved by him or the Department of Engineers for any such enterprise or construction; and whether, in the opinion of the United States Engineer Department, there is any possibility of any such enterprise or construction obstructing or lessening the depth of the harbor of Sabine Pass.

Presentation to of sword and of medals to his command.That the Secretary of the Navy be, and he hereby is, authorized to present a sword of honor to Commodore George Dewey, and to cause to be struck bronze medals commemorating the battle of Manila Bay, and to distribute such medals to the officers and men of the ships of the Asiatic Squadron of the United States under command of Commodore George Dewey on May first, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and that to enable the Secretary to carry out this resolution the sum of ten thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled,Tampa Bay, Florida.
Plans, etc., for improvement of. That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to submit plans and estimates for the improvement of Tampa Bay, from Port Tampa to the mouth of the bay, in the Gulf of Mexico, so as to give a depth of water thirty feet deep at mean low water, five hundred feet wide on the bar at the entrance of Tampa Bay, and three hundred feet wide in the bay itself; and that the Secretary of War be, and is hereby, requested to inform Congress of his views as to the advisability of the proposed improvement.
