PROCLAMATIONS, 1909. 2217 BY THE PRESIDENT or THE UNITED STATES or AMERICA ’°'*“°’Y2"· 19**- _ A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, an Executive Order signed July second, nineteen hun- Ffjgéflggld N““°"”' dred and eight, consolidated the San Jacinto and 'I‘rabuco Canyon - Preainblé- National Forests under the name of the Cleveland National Forest; KZ’#,?`};_%;43i_76’ And whereas, it appears that the public good would be promoted by adding to the Cleve and National Forest, certain lands within the State of California, which are in part covered with timber, and by excluding therefrom certain lands; Now, therefore, I, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the United $g}*“3Q',“'l§”3§'°d*“°d· . States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of •'` ' Congress, approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, entitled, “Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other urposes," do proclaim that the boundaries of the Cleveland National) Forest are hereby changed and that they are now as shown on the two parts of the diagram forming a art hereof. The withdrawal made by this proclamation shall, as to all lands w;‘$°' 'igm “°* °" which are at this date legally appropriated under the public land ` -1aws or reserved for any public purpose, be sub`ect to, and shall not interfere with or defeat Iegal rights under suclm appropriation, nor . prevent the use for such public purpose of land so reserved, so long as such appropriation is egally maintained, or such reservation remains m orce. This proclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of $§§*;'“2l3_l’”"’· any lands heretofore o ned to settlement and entry under the Acf of Congress approved Jpudne eleventh, nineteen hundred and six, enti- - tled, "An Act to provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves," and Acts amendatory thereof. The lands hereby eliminated from the Cleveland National Forest p\}g{,*;dj°m';l$;°”d *° which are not embraced in withdrawals for administrative sites for ` use in the mana ement of the Forest, or in any other reservation, or appropriation, shall be restored to the public domain and become sub)ject to settlement under the eneral provisions of the homestead laws on such date and after such notice by publication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but shall not become subject to entry, filing, selection, or other form of appropriation until the expiration of thirty days from the date so fixe , and no person will be permitted to gain or exercise any right whatever under any settlement or occupation be n prior to such date, and all such settlement and occu ation are Tigre y forbidden.
