Act of March 3, 1819, ch. 101, sec. 2.For the agency on the coast of Africa, and expenses of supporting in the United States, and transporting to the coast of Africa, those persons who have been released and subject to be transported by the provisions of the act of eighteen hundred and nineteen, thirty-six thousand seven hundred and ten dollars. For arrearages prior to the first of January, eighteen hundred and twenty-seven, twenty thousand dollars.
Balance of the appropriation to be carried to the surplus fund 1st January, 1827, re-appropriated.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the balances of the appropriations for the navy department to be carried to the surplus fund on the first of January, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, be, and the same are hereby, re-appropriated.
Money to be paid from the treasury.

Proviso.Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the several sums hereby appropriated, shall be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated: Provided, however, that no money appropriated by this act shall be paid to any person, for his compensation, who is in arrears to the United States, until such person shall have accounted and paid into the treasury all sums for which he may be liable: Provided, also, that nothing in this section contained shall be construed to extend to balances arising solely from the depreciation of treasury notes, received by such person to be expended in the public service; but in all cases where the pay or salary of any person is withheld, in pursuance of this act, it shall be the duty of the accounting officer, if demanded by the party, his agent, or attorney, to report, forthwith, to the agent of the Treasury Department, the balance due; and it shall be the duty of the said agent, within sixty days thereafter, to order suit to be commenced against such delinquent, and his sureties.

Sums appropriated for the year 1827.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and the same are hereby, respectively appropriated, for the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven; that is to say:
Congress and their officers.For compensation to the Senators and members of the House of Representatives, their officers and clerks, and for the contingent expenses of both Houses of Congress, four hundred and twenty-eight thousand four hundred and forty dollars.
Library and librarian of Congress.For expenses of the library of Congress, including the salary of the librarian, one thousand nine hundred and fifty dollars.
President.For compensation to the President of the United States, twenty-five thousand dollars.
Vice President.For compensation to the Vice President of the United States, five thousand dollars.
Secretary of State.For compensation to the Secretary of State, six thousand dollars.
