HYGIENE AND SANITATION, PUBLIC SCHOOLS Salaries : For personal services in the conduct of hygiene and sanitation work in the public schools, including the necessary expenses of maintaining free dental clinics, $101, 980 : Provi ded, That of the persons employed as medical inspectors one shall be a woman, four shall b_e dentists, and four shall be of the colored race, and that of the graduate nurses employed as public-school nurses three shall be of the colored race . F or ma inten ance of l abora torie s, i nclud ing r efer ence books and periodicals, apparatus, equipment, and necessary contingent and miscellaneous expenses, $4,450. For contingent expenses incident to the enforcement of an Act relating to the adulteration of foods and drugs in the District of Columbia approved February 17, 1898 (30 Stat ., pp 246-248), an Act to prevent the adulteration of candy in the District of Columbia . approved May 5, 1898 (30 Stat ., p . 398), an Act for preventing the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated or misbranded or poisonous or deleterious foods, drugs, medicines, and liquors, and for regulating traffic therein, and for other purposes, approved June 30, 1906 (34 Stat ., pp . 768-772), and an Act to regulate, within the District of Columbia, the sale of milk, cream, and ice cream, and for other purposes, approved February 27, 19 25 (43 Stat., pp. 1004-1008), including traveling and other necessary expenses of dairy-farm inspectors ; and including not to exceed $100 for special servi ces i n det ecti ng ad ulter atio n of drugs and food s, in cludi ng candy and milk, $8,300 : Pr ovide d, T hat i nspec tors of d airy farms may receive an allowance for furnishing privately owned motor vehicles in the performance of official duties at the rate of not to exceed X480 per annum for each inspector . For maintenance, including personal services, and not to exceed $6,100 for repairs of the public crematorium, $9,000, to be immedi- ately available : Provided, That the health officer is authorized to provide and f urnish prope r cont ainers for th e rece ption, buria l, and identification of the ashes of all human bodies of indigent persons that are cremated at the public crematorium, which ashes remain uncla imed after twe lve m onths fro m dat e of such crem ation . For maintenance and operation of motor ambulances and motor vehicles, $1,750 .
