retirement benefits . any Foreign Service officer who may here after be promoted from the classif ied service to the grade of ambassador or minister, or appointed to a position in the Department of State, shall be entitled to all the benefits of this section in the same manner and under the same conditions as Foreign Service officers : Provided, That any offi- Presentincumbentsr cer now included under the Act of May 24, 1924, and the amend- ment thereto of July 3, 1926, shall be entitled to the benefits of this section .
