March 3, 1921 (41 Stat., p. 1312), shall be earned unless, prior to Vol . 41, p .1312. three days before the time set for such trials, including Sundays and legal holidays, a new date for trial be set by the court, cases be discontinued or settled, or demands for jury trials be waived .
Contingent expenses . For contingent expenses, including books, law books, books of referen ce, fu el, li ght, t elepho ne, lo dging a nd mea ls for juror s, and for deputy United States marshals while in attendance upon jurors, when ordered by the court ; fixtures, repairs to furniture, building, and building equipment, and all other necessary miscellaneous items and supplies, $4,000 . District Su preme Court . Salaries : Chief justice, $10,500 ; eight associate justices, at $10,000 salariess each ; nine stenographers, one for the chief justice and one for each associate justice, and other personal services, $49,800, of which $6,600 shall be immediately available ; in all, $140,300.
Additional space . For installing necessary partitions, purchase of furniture, furnish- ings and equipment, installation of telephones, telephone rental, and other expenses necessary and incidental to providing additional ment, etctnre, equip • space for new employees, $6,198, of which am ount $5,000 shall be immediately available, and $3,500 of which may be expended under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol .
