7 Newton County, Tex. for military and other purposes, the Louisiana Highway Commission and the State Highway Commission of Texas be, and are hereby, authoriz ed to co nstruct, maintain, and op erate a free hig hway brid ge and approaches thereto across the Sabine River, between Calcasieu Paris h, L ouisi ana, and Newto n Cou nty, Texa s, at a p oint suita ble to the interest of navigation, where Louisiana Highway Numbered 7 meets Texas Highway Numbered 87, in accordance with the pro- visions of an Act entitled "An Act to regulate the construction of bridges over navigable waters," approved March 23, 1906 . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Bicentennial 'Washington United States o f America in Congress assem bled, That there is Sum authorized for . hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of funds in the Treasury to the credit of the District of Columbia, the sum of $100,000, to be expended by the District of Columbia Commission for the George Washington Bicentennial : Provided, That the expenditure of the money by the District of Columbia Commission for the George Washington Bicentennial herein authorized shall be made under such regulations as may be prescribed by the Commissioners of the District of Columbia . Bennett, a British subject, in connection with the rescue of survivors of the United States ship Che rokee . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secre- tary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, directed to pay to the British Government, as an act of grace and without reference to the questio n of the legal li ability of the U nited Sta tes in t he mat- ter, the sum of $400 as full reimbursement for losses sustained by British Government . Payment directed to, as indemnity, on ac- count of losses sus- tained by H. W. Ben nett .
