R. 5270 .] CHAP. 16 .-An Act Providing for a per capita payment of $25 to e ach enrolled member of the Chippewa Tribe of Minnesota from the funds standing to their credit in the Treasury of the United States . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Chippewa In dia ns, United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary Minn . the Treasury of the United States so much as may be necessary of the principal fund on deposit to the credit of the Chippewa Indians Vol.25,p. 645. in the St ate of Minnes ota, ar ising u nder se ction 7 of the Act of January 14, 1889 (Twenty-fifth Statutes at Large, page 642), ent itled " An Act for th e relie f and c iviliza tion of the Ch ippewa Indians in the State of Minnesota," and to make therefrom a per capita payment or distribution of $25 to each enrolled member of the tribe, under such rules and regulations as the said Secretary may [Public, No . 30 .] SEVENTY-FIRST CONGRESS . SESS. II. CHs. 15, 16. 1929 . to provide accommodations for officers, nurses, and attending per- sonnel; and also to provide proper and suitable recreational centers; and the Director of the Unit ed States Veterans' Bureau is authorized to accept gifts or donations for any of the purposes named herein . Such hospital and domiciliary plants to be constructed shall be of fireproof construction, and existing plants purchased shall be remodeled to be fireproof, and the location and nature thereof, whether for domiciliary care or the treatment of tuberculosis, neuropsychiatric, or general medical and surgical cases, shall be in the discre tion of the Di rector of the United States Veteran s' Bureau, s ubject to the approva l of the P resident . SEC . 2 . The cons truction o f new hosp itals, dom iciliary f acilities, or dispensaries, or the replacement, extension, alteration, remodeling, or repair of all hospitals, domiciliary facilities, or dispensaries here- tofore or hereafter constructed shall be done in such manner as the President may determine, and he is authorized to require the archi- tectural, engineering, constructing, or other forces of any of the departments of the Government to do or assist in such work, and t o emp loy i ndivi duals and a genci es no t now conne cted with the Government, if in his opinion desirable, at such compensation as he may consider reasonable . SEC . 3. For carrying into effect the preceding sections relating to additional hospitals and domiciliary and out-patient dispensary f acilities there is h ereby auth orized to be appropr iated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $15,950,000 to be immediately available and to remain available until expended . That not to exceed 3 per centum of this sum shall be available for the employment in the District of Columbia and in the field of necessary technical and clerical assistants at the cus- tomary rates of compensation, exclusively to aid in the preparation of the plans and specifications for. the projects authorized herein and for the supervision of the execution thereof, and for traveling expenses, field-office equipment, and supplies in connection therewith . SEC. 4 . The President is further authorized to accept from any State or other political subdivision, or from any corporation, associa- tion, individual, or individuals, any building, structure, equipment, o r grounds suitable f or the car e of the d isabled, w ith due re gard to fire or other hazards, state of repair, and all other pertinent consid- erations, and to designate what department, bureau, board, commis- sion, or other governmental agency shall have the control and management thereof .
