A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS by proclamation of January twenty-nine nineteen Nantahala National , 'i' Forest, Ga., N. C ., and hundred and twentl" there were reserved ana set apart as the N anta- s·f bl hala National Forest, certain lands within the States of Georgia, v~fTI,~: 1785. North Carolina and South Carolina, acquired or to be acquired by Vol. 36 , p. 961. the United States under authority of the Act of Congress approved March first, nineteen hundred and eleven (36 Stat., 961), entitled "An Act to enable any State to cooperate with any other State or States, or with the United States, for the protecti')n of the water- sheds of navigable streams, and to appoint a commission for the acqui- sition of lands for the purpose of conserving the navigability of navigable rivers"; and WHEREAS, it has been found on further examination that cer- tain of the lands thus set apart are not suitable for acquisition under the above mentioned Act, and, therefore, should be excluded from said reservation; and WHEREAS, it is desirable for administrative purposes to transfer certain lands from the Pisgah National Forest to this National For- est; and WHEREAS, certain additional lands in the vicinity of said National Forest h~ve been or may hereafter be acquired by the United States under saId Act; NOW, THEREFORE, I, HERBERT HOOVER, President of the Area moditlcJ. United States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by section eleven of said Act and by section twenty-four of the Act Vol. 36 , p. 963; Vol. , 26, p. 1103 . of March third, eighteen hundred and ninety-one (26 Stat., 1103), do proclaim that the boundaries of said Nantahala National Forest are hereby changed to exclude therefrom the lands found to be unsuit- able for acquisition, to include by transfer certain lands from the Pisgah National Forest, and to include other lands which have been or may hereafter be acquired under the said Act of March one, nineteen hundred and eleven, as shown on the diagram attached hereto and made a part hereof, and that aU lands within said bounda- ries which have been or may hereafter be acquired by the United States under authority of said Act of 1Ia;'.~h one, nineteen hundred and eleven, shall be permanently reserved and administered as a pflrt of the N antahala National Forest.
