EXPENSES OF INDIAN COMMISSIONERS For expenses of the Board of Indian Commissioners, $11,430, of which amount not to exceed $6,330 may be expended for personal servi ces in the D istric t of Columb ia . GEN ERAL LAND OFF ICE SALARIES For Commissioner of the General Land Office and other personal services in the District of Columbia, $600,000, including one clerk of grade 1, clerical, administrative, and fiscal service, who shall be desig nated by the Presi dent, to si gn lan d pate nts . GEN ERA L E XPE NSES For traveling expenses of officers and employees, including employ- ment of stenographers and other assistants when necessary ; for separate maps of public-land States and Alaska, including maps showing areas designated by the Secretary of the In terior under the enlarged homestead Acts, prepared by the General Land Office ; for the reproddction by photolithography or otherwise official plats of surveys ; for expenses of restoration to the public domain of lands in f orest res erve s and of lands tem porar ily with drawn for fore st- reserve purposes ; and for expenses of hearings or other proceedings held by order of the General Land Office to determine the character of l ands whet her alleg ed f raudu lent entr ies are of th at c harac ter or have been made in compliance with the law, and of hearings in disbarment proceedings, $23,000 . Surveying public lands : For surveys and resurveys of public lands, examination of surveys heretofore made and reported to be defective or fraudulent, inspecting mineral deposits, coal fields, and timber districts, making fragmentary surveys, and such other surveys or examinations as may be required for identification of lands for purposes of evidence in any suit or proceeding in b ehalf of the United States, under the supervision of the Commiss ioner of the General Land Office and direction of the Secretary of the Interior, $500,000, including not to exceed $5,000 for the purchase, exchange, operation, and maintenance of motor-propelled passenger-carrying vehicles : Provided, That not to exceed $5,000 of this appropriation may be expended for salaries of employees of the field surveying service temporarily detailed to the General Land Office

further, That not to exceed $10,000 of this appropriation may be used for th e surv ey, cl assif icatio n, and sale of the land s and timber of the so-called Oregon and California Railroad lands and the Coos Bay Wagon Road lands : Provided further, That no part of this appropriation shall be available for surveys or resurveys of public lands in any State ,which, under the Act of August 18, 1894 (U. S . C., title 43, sec . 863), advances money to the United States for such purposes for expenditure during the fiscal year 1934 : Provided further, That th is appropriatio n may be expen ded for surveys made under the supervision of the Commissioner of the Gen eral Land Offi ce, but when expe nded for surve ys t hat would not other wise b e char geable here to it shall be rei mburse d fro m the appli- cable appropriation, fund, or special deposit .
