Chapter I.—An Act to supply a deficiency in the appropriation for the fiscal year ending the thirtieth of June, eighteen hundred and forty-four, for the relief and protection of American seamen.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,Relief of American seamen. That the sum of forty thousand five hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of any unappropriated money in the Treasury for the relief and protection of American seamen, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of State, in pursuance of the act supplementary to the act concerning consuls and vice-consuls and for the further protection of American seamen,1803, ch. 9. passed the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and three.

Chap. II.—An Act to refund the fine imposed on General Andrew Jackson.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,To refund $1000 with interest from 31st March 1815. That the sum of one thousand dollars, paid by General Andrew Jackson, as a fine imposed on him at New Orleans, the thirty-first day of March, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, be repaid to him, together with the interest, at the rate of six per centum a year since then, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
