CONTINGENT AND MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES, HYDROGRAPHIO OFFICE "Contingent and miscellaneous expenses, Hydrographic Office", fiscal year 1944, $63,507. DEPARTMENT OF STATE DEPARTMENT SERVICE Salaries and expenses, Department of State: The limitation of $20,000 contained in the Department of State Appropriation Act, 1948, for the employment of aliens and temporary employment of persons in the United States, without regard to civil service and clas- sification laws, is hereby increased to $40,000. North Atlantic fisheries: The appropriation "North Atlantic fish- eries", contained in the Department of State Appropriation Act, 1948, is hereby made available, on and after July 1, 1947, for personal services in the District of Columbia and elsewhere i temporary employment of persons without regard to the civil-service laws and the Classification Act of 1923, as amended; and attendance at meet- ings of organizations concerned with the activity for which this appropriation was made.
