Alwin (of) Gotone held there 3 hides under the Abbot and could not alienate them from the church. From this manor Herbert fitz Ivo s took and occupied i hide what with wood and field (inter boscum et planum) in the bishop of Bayeux's time. This hide 4 belonged to the church of St. Alban on the day when king Edward was alive and died. It is now held by the count of Mortain. In REDBORNE [Redbourn] the same Abbot holds 7 hides and i virgate. There is land for 1 6 ploughs. In the demesne are 3 hides and I virgate, and 4 ploughs are on it.
