Who fac'd every danger, to fear was a stranger,
Must pine now in poverty down to the grave.
The fine sinecurist can now make a tourist
To Paris, and sport your hard earnings gallore
For since the creation such heavy taxation
Was never impos'd upon mankind before.

That heavy taxation has ruined this nation.
And left us the scoff of our once daring foes,
Whose pride and ambition hold us in derision,
Since ever we tasted the Waterloo brose.
Since it came in fashion, to foster the nation,
The red rosy cheek has become pale and wan;
And left the industrious mechanic to perish.
Who once was the glory and pride of the land

Sodger Laddie.

My sodger laddie is over the sea,
And he will bring gowd and siller to me;
And when he comes hame he'll make me a lady,
My blessing gang with my sodger laddie.

My doughty laddie is handsome and brave,
And can as a sodger and lover behave;
True to his country, to love he is steady,
There's few to compare with my sodger laddie
