Note on symbol transcription
[edit]Three decisions I made in the initial proofread of this page:
- The inconsistent rendering of a space or not after the capital delta (Δ) copies the rendering in the scanned pages. I don't know if there is any meaning behind that.
- I used a heavy bullet dot • instead of the more normal middot ·, again to more closely approximate the scans. Yes, I should have used the HTML entity to make it easier to change that decision!
- I spelled out the Greek letters as HTML entities to avoid hunt-and-peck in the menus. DavidBrooks (talk) 15:32, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- On further examination/consideration, it seems to me that:
- Those spaces were inserted by the typographer to assist in right justification; properly the delta and center dot should not be spaced.
- For chemical formulae, · (middot) is likely a better choice than • (bullet).
- I'll go back and change them later. DavidBrooks (talk) 20:57, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
