This Is Life.
This is life? Oh! heart, revealing
Every true and tender feeling:
'Tis to climb, with tireless feet,
Through the cold and through the heat,
Up progression's slippery hill,
Higher, higher, higher still.
"Tis to lead an erring brother
With you on your glorious way,
Learning each to love the other,
And to hail the coming day.
'Tis to raise the fallen up,
'Tis to empty misery's cup!
'Tis to clasp the hand of woe,
As we journey here below.
What is life? oh! friend and brother,
Tis to love—and help each other!
Every true and tender feeling:
'Tis to climb, with tireless feet,
Through the cold and through the heat,
Up progression's slippery hill,
Higher, higher, higher still.
"Tis to lead an erring brother
With you on your glorious way,
Learning each to love the other,
And to hail the coming day.
'Tis to raise the fallen up,
'Tis to empty misery's cup!
'Tis to clasp the hand of woe,
As we journey here below.
What is life? oh! friend and brother,
Tis to love—and help each other!
