EVENING PRAYER.
Father, we bow before thy throne,When night with shadows deep,Reminds us that thy watchful loveIs needed while we sleep. If earthly cares attention claim,When low we bend the knee,O God! forgive our wandering thoughts,And lead them back to thee.
O, let a portion of thy grace,Descend our hearts to fill;Teach us, whate'er our lot, to bowSubmissive to thy will; And if to sin's dark, thorny way,Our feet enticed should be,Father, forgive our wandering steps,And lead them back to thee.
