ON THE SEA-SHORE.
Glad sight of the ocean,Where each dancing wave,With its brightening emotion,The beach doth enlave.Oh! I wander in fancyEach billow to meet,And smile with a gladnessAs they break at my feet. And I sit by the shoreIn a wild dreamy mood,And think o'er and o'erIn this sweet solitude.Yet my thoughts scarcely gatherOne definite gleam,For they flit and roll onLike the varying stream.
And each hour passes onIn this dreamy repose,Like each wave that is goneEre another arose.Oh, I love the deep waters! And the voice of the seaHath a music untoldIn its rapture for me.
