THE BALM OF DISAPPOINTMENT.
There is no sunshine without shade,No morning without night,And darkness adds a brighter beamOf radiance to the light; The sweetest rose conceals a thornBeneath its petals fair,And if our paths were void of thornsNo flowers would blossom there.
There is a joy for every grief,A balm for every woe,A cordial for each wounded heartThat suffers here below;A better resting place than thisTo faithful spirits given,Release from all the toils of earthAnd lasting peace in Heaven.
