Poems (Katharine Elizabeth Howard)/The spring-time snow
Appearance
The spring-time snow
Falls gently, touching the earth
Caressingly with loving fingers;
Giving itself to the new birth
Of flowers, it softly lingers
Perhaps a day and then 'tis gone—
The spring-time snow—
But i1ts fair soul remains,—
Into the fragrance of the rose
It breathes and grows.
We forget—after the sun has shone
A little, after the spring-time rains—
The spring-time snow.
Falls gently, touching the earth
Caressingly with loving fingers;
Giving itself to the new birth
Of flowers, it softly lingers
Perhaps a day and then 'tis gone—
The spring-time snow—
But i1ts fair soul remains,—
Into the fragrance of the rose
It breathes and grows.
We forget—after the sun has shone
A little, after the spring-time rains—
The spring-time snow.
