VII In the Woods
Are your grave eyes graver growing?Sweetheart, may I lookAt the treasured thoughts which move youIn the poet's book?Stay not in the lazy shadeWith the drowsy roses;Come into the woods and seeWhere I find my posies.
Has the buried singer left usSongs to make you weep? Are you saddened by the sorrowThat his numbers keep? Or were all the songs he gave usBorn in happy hours?Come with me, he found his musicWhere I find my flowers.
