JUST YOU AND I
We could have been so happy,Just you and I;But the sad days followed glad days,And the cares rolled by.
We could have been so cheery,Just you and I,But darkness chased the sunshine,And the tears came to our eyes.
We could have been so gladsome,Just you and I,But honor took the place of loveAnd made hearts sigh,
We could have been so lovingJust you and I;But the world its barrier placedAnd we could not try.
We could have been togetherJust you and I;But the world and honor tooCould not stop me loving you,Hear heart's reply.
