Joseph John Cancalosi

Joseph James Cancalosi (1894-1962) was a stenographer for the Erie Railroad. He served as a corporal in the United States Army during World War I. He later worked as a movie projectionist. IN some documents his name appears as "Joseph Cangialosi". (b. November 22, 1894, Hoboken, Husdson County, New Jersey, USA - d. October 22, 1962, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA)

His obituary. "Joseph Cancalosi, 67, of 220 Nunda Avenue, died yesterday at Jersey City Medical Center. He was a movie projector operator at the Monticello Theater. He served with the Army in France during World War I. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans. funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday from the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home."
His funeral notice. "Cancalosi — On Monday, October 22, 1962, of 220 Nunda Avenue, Joseph, beloved husband of Ann (nee Kahrar); loving father of Andrew, Charles and Joseph Jr., dear brother of James, Andrew, Theodore, Jennie Zampella, and Frances Patrizio and the late Frank; seven grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral from Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, 143 Brunswick Street, Thursday, 10 a.m. Solemn requiem mass St. Aloysius Church, 11 a.m. Visiting hours, 2-5 and 7-10 p.m. Private Parking Lot On 4th Street, Next To No. 5 School."
Serving during World War I. "… His sister Anna's husband, Corporal Cancalosi, is also in France, where he was gassed and later attacked by the "flu." He is a former Grove street boy. A letter received a few days ago by his wife, is to the effect that he was then recovering and expected soon to be home. Corporal Cancalosi was married just a month before going to France from Fort Hancock. He was employed as a stenographer by the Erie and is well known in the "Shoe" and at East Rutherford, where his father conducts a hotel."
