Initially the proceedings are collated into volumes. Two volumes were issued this way. Thereafter the proceedings were issued each year, and were identified by the session covered. Sessions typically ran from November until May or June the following year.

These Proceedings are essentially detailed minutes of meetings. Published papers may be found in Transactions of the Linnean Society of London.
