The Coming of Dawn

Oh, Dawn with hair of pallid gold,This is the hour of your delight,Up-waving from the east your whiteTremulous rose-stained wings of light,Beat softly at the gates of Night,The air is delicately cold.
And see! your spears of sunlight hurledAthwart the pale sky's ranks of grey,Cloud gonfalons drooped fold on fold,So! as flower petals are unfurledIn silken silence to the day,You blossom to the waking world.
