JOHN BANKS, Esq.

Was made a lieutenant on the 23th Feb. 1806; and served as first of the Northumberland 74, Captain (now Sir Henry) Hotham, at the destruction of two French frigates and a national brig, near l’Orient, May 22d, 1812[1]; for which service he was promoted to his present rank on the 29th of the same month. This officer married. Mar. lOth, 1815, Miss Elizabeth Banks, of Bath.
