PHILIP THICKNESSE HORN, Esq.

Was wounded while serving as master’s-mate of the Amazon frigate, Captain Edward Riou, at the battle of Copenhagen, April 2d, 1801. He obtained his first commission on the 7th Oct. 1805; and, after successively serving as senior lieutenant of the Indus 74, Captain William Hall Gage; Boyne 98, Captain Frederick L. Maitland; Vengeur 74, Captains Tristram R. Ricketts, and Thomas Alexander; and Superb 74, Captain Charles Elkins, in which ship he received a severe wound at the battle of Algiers, was promoted to the rank of commander, Sept. 16th, 1816.
