Obtained his first commission on the 9th Feb. 1805. He was appointed to the command of the Pigmy schooner in Jan. 1812; to be a lieutenant of the Ordinary at Chatham in 1816; and to the command of the Plumper gun-brig, on the Irish station, Sept. 14th, 1820. He was promoted to his present rank on the 3d Dec. 1827; and appointed an inspecting commander of the coast guard, July 21 at, 1829.
