HENRY MEYNELL, Esq.
[Post-Captain of 1816.]
Son of the late Hugo Meynell, Esq. by a sister to the Dowager Marchioness of Hertford. He obtained the rank of lieutenant, Nov. 8, 1809; commanded the boats of the Theban frigate. Captain S. T. Digby, at the capture of a French merchant brig, lying aground under two batteries, near Dieppe, Feb. 2, 1811; was made commander, Aug. 24, 181S; and posted into the Newcastle 60, bearing the flag of Sir Pulteney Malcolm, at St. Helena, April 10, 1816. Captain Meynell’s mother was accidentally killed, in Aug. 1817.
