SPECIFICATIONS
FOR
Standpipe for City of Bangor
General conditions
[edit]In these specifications the terms owner, contractor, architect, and engineer refer to the City of Bangor, the contractor for the work called for under these specifications, A. B. Tower, and the engineer in charge. The engineer in charge will be appointed by A. B. Tower, and will hereinafter be designated as the "Engineer".
Location
[edit]The Standpipe shall be erected on Thomas Hill, in the City of Bangor, on a site as located by the Engineer.
Labor and materials
[edit]The Contractor shall furnish at his own expense all materials, machinery, tools and labor of every kind necessary for the completion of the work covered by these specifications, and shown on plans Or. No. ...., Or. No. ...., Or. No. ...., and Or. No. .... .
All materials furnished under this contract are to be subject at all times to the inspection and approval of the Engineer, and any materials disapproved after such inspection shall be at once removed from the premises by the Contractor at his own expense.
Character of labor
[edit]None but careful and experienced workmen are to be employed upon the various portions of the work, and any workman or foreman so employed who shall neglect or refuse to follow the directions of the Engineer, shall, upon notice to the Contractor, be discharged, and shall not again be employed upon the work.
Foreman
[edit]The Contractor will keep employed upon the work at all times a competent foreman, and any directions given by the Engineer to said foreman, or in his absence to any workman who appears to be in charge of the work, shall be valid and binding upon the Contractor, the same as if given to him in person.
