I

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a Man with seven Wives.
Each Wife had seven Sacks,
Each Sack had seven Cats,
Each Cat had seven Kits.

Kits, Cats, Sacks, and Wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

II

Two legs sat upon three legs,
With one leg in his lap;
In comes four legs,
And runs away with one leg;
Up jumps two legs,
Catches up three legs,
Throws it after four legs,
And makes him bring back one leg.
