Talk:1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Mary Magdalene
Add topicSome modern books and movies claim that Mary Magdalene secretly married Jesus and bore him a daughter. In addition, these books and movies contend that Mary was the unidentified beloved disciple who leaned on Jesus during the last supper and who later witnessed his crucifixion and resurrection. The authors of these books argue that there was a conspiracy within the early church to cover up this secret relationship between Mary and Jesus, and that the "truth" was successfully suppressed for hundreds of years, but has finally been revealed following the re-discovery of a lost "gospel of Mary". But most biblical scholars consider all of this to be specualtion and doubt that any of it is true. For more information see an article at http://www.gospel-mysteries.net/mary-magdalene.html
